Mathematics for WA schools
Mathematics for WA schools has been compiled to make the life of the teacher as easy as possible when it comes to planning and assessing the area of mathematics.
Planning:

  • Each mathematics outcome has been clearly broken down into specific content to be taught at each level in order for students to successfully develop the concepts required. This information has then been followed with specifi c skills required to be used by students when working in each outcome.
  • Each outcome has been carefully linked to various pages of R.I.C.Publications® and Prim-Ed Publishing workbooks and blackline masters to provide teachers with an extensive list of resources suitable for use when teaching the whole class, small groups or individual students.

Assessment:

  • Class assessment checklists have been created directly from the content listed in the over view to ensure teachers have a comprehensive record of each student’s achievements. This allows teachers to see at a glance specifi c areas of content that require additional teaching or individual students who need further assistance.
  • Individual student portfolio pages have been designed with the parent in mind. The content has been worded to help parents understand more easily. The portfolio page is designed to follow the student from his/her fi rst day of primary school to his/her last day and show when the various stages of development are achieved.
  • Also included is an individual student ‘Achievement targets’ page. This has been included to show the student’s achievement in Years 3, 5 and 7, according to WALNA benchmarks. This page is also designed to follow the student through primar y school and show when the various stages of development are achieved.
