ELF - Emergent Reading Programme - ELF (Early Learning Friends) Emergent Readers comprises five sets of eight books carefully designed to permit maximum use of a child‘s spoken language as an aid to beginning and developing reading. The sets are arranged in gradually increasing levels of language difficulty but still retain the meaning focus of the program as outlined in the Teachers Guide. Underlying principle ELF is built upon the typical sensory experiences, language and learning strength of children in the first years of school. The aim in producing ELF is to: • create an integrated selection of modern and meaningful early language materials that make use of children’s language, experiences and interests. The integrated components of ELF Reading are: • 40 reading books • 5 shared books (big books) • activities for each reading book • teaching notes for each reading book • comprehensive teachers guide • CD with music, readings of the texts and comments.
